Disappointing Experience Despite Beautiful Property – Management Shortcomings We spontaneously booked a villa at the otherwise beautiful "Villa L'Auberge" via Booking.com from July 11 to 14, 2025. We were looking for a short break after our trip with two small children, but unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by significant issues with the management. Upon arrival, we were informed by a visibly annoyed staff member that we would have to move villas for our last night. This would have meant a complete check-out and then re-checking in during the afternoon – an absolutely unacceptable situation with young children. The "solution" offered (a late check-out and help with luggage) was simply insufficient. Trying to find a resolution was extremely frustrating: The front desk couldn't help and directed us to the villa manager, whose phone number they provided, despite us not having a US phone. We were bluntly told they couldn't do anything and that we should contact Booking.com – who also couldn't assist. Only after significant complaints at the hotel and demanding to speak with the management did they apologetically approach us, but still without solving the relocation problem. Even a later phone call with the General Manager, who was very friendly, didn't help, as there was no continuous availability. Ultimately, we only spent two nights in the villa. The requested refund for the unused night was also a disappointment; despite complaining, we didn't even receive a third of the price back. The management (who were partially not on-site) severely let us down here. Furthermore, our room wasn't ready at the official check-in time of 4:00 PM, and there was no apology for this. Another negative point is the train that runs directly in front of the window; at night, some very long and loud cargo trains pass by, almost rattling you out of bed. On the positive side, the rest of the staff (aside from the check-in employee) was very friendly and accommodating. The property itself is truly beautiful, and the villas are spacious with nice ocean views. The resort would be generally recommendable if the management and handling of issues were better.

Unfortunately, the stay was between two different timeshare use weeks and the same fixed unit was not available after Sunday. Your feedback is appreciated as it allows us the opportunity to make improvements to our overall service. I would like to confirm we processed a refund to you for the full room rate and resort fee on Sunday night since you opted to depart early instead of moving rooms. This would have been refunded directly through booking.com as your reservation was booked through them directly. I hope that despite the concerns you experienced that you were able to enjoy your stay at Villa L'Auberge. We hope to see you at the resort again for an improved experience!

The villas are very nice with an ocean view (our room did). We will be back for sure. No high pressure sales tactics either.

Five star accommodations in a five star location! We loved this Del Mar villa. So comfortable for a quick family trip to San Diego and North County. Walking distance to town, beach, park, and more. Housekeeping services provided daily.

Everything very old!! Furniture Needed new upholstery. Dish washing machine rusty. We found 3 different kinds of bugs in the room. Curtains living room with stains from rusty heater. Plus curtains from bedroom with fungus. VERY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
